What this site can run, what is holding a product back, where the product list came from, and how to make FCHub look again.
The System page is where FCHub stops being reassuring and starts being specific. Four panels, no charts, nothing that needs interpreting.
This site
The versions every decision on the other two screens was made against — read from your server, not guessed at in the browser.

A fourth row, Your account, appears only when something is genuinely being withheld from you — for example, Your account cannot install products or update them on this site. If your account can do everything, the row stays away rather than reciting a list of privileges you already have.

One row per requirement, listing the products waiting on it.

When a row has nothing to report it says so — Nothing is waiting on a newer PHP — which is a more useful sight than an empty space where a problem might be hiding.
Catalogue
FCHub keeps a list of the products, what they need, and where their releases live. It asks fchub.co for that list, and this panel tells you which copy you are actually looking at.

Last checked gives the date and time of the most recent successful check, in your own locale — or an honest FCHub has not managed a successful check yet when there has not been one.
FCHub does not ask again every time you open the page. A successful check buys six hours of quiet, and the answer it gets may itself have been cached for up to an hour on the way. So a version published this morning can be several hours late arriving at a site nobody prods, and Last checked will cheerfully report a recent, successful, slightly out-of-date answer. That is the list behaving, not failing.
The Check for updates button asks again, right now, ignoring whatever waiting period FCHub had settled into. Use it after a release you were expecting, or after the network comes back. It reads a list; it installs nothing. What it cannot skip is that cache in front of fchub.co — so for a release published in the last hour, the honest answer is one more press a little later.
An outage is meant to be boring
None of those three states breaks the screen. Products still list, states still resolve, buttons still work — the only thing an older list can cost you is knowledge of a release published since. See Troubleshooting if a source line surprises you.
FCHub
The version of the hub itself, and a link to the WordPress Updates screen. FCHub updates arrive through WordPress exactly like any other plugin — there is no separate updater, no background upgrade, and no clever timing.
